Richmond Emerson "Bubba" Young III, May 2, 2010
Palmer - Richmond Emerson "Bubba" Young III, 56, of Flynt St. died on May 2, 2010 at home with his family and friends by his side.
He was born June 11, 1953 in Palmer, MA, son of the late Richmond E. Jr. and Edith (Barton) James of Brimfield. Bubba grew up in south California and has lived in Palmer since 1977.
For 20 years, he worked for DYS, State of MA as a Detention Intake Coordinator. During the 1990s he was a very active member of the Modified Motorcycle Association (MMA), serving in several positions on the Board of Directors including Hampden County Representative, District IV Rep and District IV Manager. Bubba worked hard with the Massachusetts Legislature for a bill on handicap registration plates for motorcyclists, and he was issued the first plate when it passed into law. He also assisted with the Palmer DARE Program while his younger sons were in school. Bubba was a retired member of the Phantom Lords Motorcycle Club, MA Chapter.
Besides his mother, he will be greatly missed by his wife of 22 years, Laurie (Hamel) of Palmer, MA, children Richmond Young IV of Belchertown, Kathryn Prokop of Three Rivers, Matthew Young and Tylor Young both at home. Bubba also leaves siblings Gina Larkin of W.Los Angeles CA, Lori Walder of Bondsville, Pamela Trevino of Canyon Coventry, CA along with his grandchildren Alexander Prokop, Vivien Young, Christian Prokop, Nicholas Young, Jaxon Prokop, and Colton Young as well as many extended family and friends.
Services will be held at the Second Congregational Church, 1080 Pleasant St. in Palmer on Wednesday, May 5th at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family may gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Monson. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 p.m.at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N.Main St.
