Hampden County Sobriety Checkpoint
Your Massachusetts Motorcycle Association would like to alert our riders of an upcoming checkpoint from the Massachusetts State Police in Hampden County, scheduled for March 12-13, 2021.

It's important to note that the MSP is correctly following their documented protocol for announcing the checkpoints in advance, and this checkpoint is NOT aimed directly at Motorcycles and Motorcyclists. Your MMA is always on the alert for any situation that potentially profiles motorcyclists - if you run into any situation where you feel targeted simply because you were riding a motorcycle or because of your attire, please contact chairman@massmotorcycle.org.

STATE POLICE SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT

Colonel Christopher S. Mason, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced that a “Sobriety Checkpoint” will be implemented by the Massachusetts State Police on a Public Way in the Counties named below. The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways. It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety.


THANKS TO A GRANT PROVIDED BY THE HIGHWAY SAFETY DIVISION OF THE MASSACHUSETTS EXECUTIVE OFFICE OF PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECURITY, A “SOBRIETY CHECKPOINT” WILL BE HELD IN THE COUNTIES LISTED BELOW:
