Legislation and Why We Do It

THE ISSUE

Most of your elected officials do not ride a motorcycle, have never ridden a motorcycle, and probably don't intend to ride. Yet, they are asked to vote on the bills that affect your riding experiences.

THE PROBLEM

Elected officials count on you to educate and inform them of your riding needs. They don't know -- and won't ever know the issues -- unless you contact them and communicate your views and reasons.  We must tell them why motorcyclist are concerned about an issue and ask for their support on these issues.

THE PROCESS

Contact your elected officials and ask them where they stand on the issues important to you! Do not limit your concerns to motorcycles, but, please report back to the MMA their reactions to any motorcycle issue you bring to them.

THE DETAILS

With each Legislative Session (2 years), the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Motorcycle Association, in conjunction with MMA members via our Legislative Workshop, creates a 'Legislative Agenda' for the upcoming legislative session. This document is listed on the Legislative page.

The MMA also coordinates an Annual "STORM THE STATE HOUSE" Lobbying Day each May that allows motorcyclists to ride into town together and then meet with and talk to their elected officials regarding these important motorcycle rights bills.  Please join us and lend your support.

WHO WE ARE

The MMA is an all-volunteer association of motorcycle enthusiasts. The MMA works in many ways to achieve favorable political goals for all motorcycle and ATV riders.

The MMA's family of volunteers and activists work for you, the Massachusetts Motorcyclist whether you become a member or not.  We do not require membership, yet we work on your behalf.   Did you know we're working for you?

Please consider supporting our efforts -- and your rider rights -- by pledging $25 or $35 to "the cause."

The Board of Directors of the MMA express its "SINCERE APPRECIATION" to all members of the MMA, MMPAC, independent riders, and our elected and appointed officials, for all of our past legislative successes.

Now is the time for you to step up with your special talents and help us continue our record of positive legislative results. Contact Us and volunteer just a little time to help promote your rights and our cause!
